If you do decide on a Rolex and I highly recommend them, I prefer the black submariner over green. You said you think they are more common and perhaps they are in the Rolex wearing world but I hardly ever see them in the wild. Black is the classic color of the Rolex dive watch and as such has an iconic status. Green is the corporate color, and for what it's worth, is the much less seen reference "in the wild". If I had to pick one over the other, I'd take the increased functionality of the LV but that's just me. Submariner: two-tone. Black vs Blue. Visiting my AD shortly with the choice of these two. Retention value should be irrelevant. That being said I prefer the black. I think it is more elegant and understated than the blue which screams summertime and look at me watch. Blue is great as a second watch for the right occasions, but the black is a great all year around watch. I have a blue-dial DJ and think I’d rather get a black dial over a second blue one, even though I think the Bluesy is one of the best-looking models Rolex makes. And I think the black/gold sub will pair better with everything than blue. Am I a fool for considering to sell/trade the submariner? I know the main rule here is Never Sell Your Submariner. With three black/darker dials I thought maybe trade sub around and pony up $$ for a white or blue or dial dj41/Daytona/ maybe oysterflex something. I also love the history of the Submariner and while I think the Batman looks cool AF I just have to have a Submariner. Currently I have the LV listed as my 1st preference, I love the green and the original Kermit with its slim case and Maxi Dial.
