Built in 1927 the historic Venice Train Depot was the last stop on the line for the Seaboard Air Line Railway that extended south from Tampa to Sarasota. Passenger trains stopped coming in 1971 and freighters in 1997, but Sarasota County restored the depot to its original condition and opened it to the public in 2003.
