I was allotted a new 2021 Explorer II (226570) today and posted some rough dimensions in another thread. I thought I would follow up with some more detail. All measurements taken with digital calipers and a kitchen scale. Case Dimensions. The 42mm width is the right size, the 50mm lug to lug doesn’t extend past my wrists, the size is perfect. The blue lume is excellent as well. It’s not super bright, but it stays charged for hours.
The case of the Explorer II is large, but it’s somewhat more wearable than the SeaDweller watches due to the smaller lugs. At 50 mm lug-to-lug, on my wrist (6.5 inches) the watch has an impressive presence. And while it’s a large watch, the super legible dial is what really stands out.
The 226570 doesn't see a diameter change like the Sub did and its lug-to-lug is also the same, but it does have a narrower tapering of the lugs (material was taken from the inside) and a slightly wider Oyster bracelet nestled in between. The 216570 increased the case size to 42mm and switched the GMT hand back to orange and while the biggest news on the 226570 update was the new movement, it also increased the lug width from 21mm to 22mm.Luminous Material: Chromalight.
